Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How is my order shipped? We normally ship orders to USA destinations by UPS Ground. If you desire a faster UPS shipping method, you can indicate your choice via our shopping cart.

What happens if an item I want is on backorder? We attempt to fill all orders from our stock, but occasionally we do run out of a particular item. If this happens, we will notify you via e-mail when we expect to have the item in stock and when it will be available for shipment.

What is your return policy for maps and atlases? We ask that you carefully make your selection on maps and atlases, for we do not accept any returns on maps or atlases.

What is your return policy for travel guides and accessories? We do accept returns of travel guides still in new condition and, travel accessories, in their original, undamaged packaging within 14 days of the date on your invoice. After 14 days, and before 30 days, we will accept returns of guides and accessories, but will charge a 15% restocking fee. We do not accept any returns of any travel guides or travel accessories after 30 days of the date of your invoice.

How do I return an item? To request a return for a travel guide or travel accessory, simply . Include the following information in your e-mail:

  • Your name and address.
  • The item you would like to return and why you want to return it.
  • The item number and order number for your item

Upon receipt of this information in your e-mail, we will provide return information to you via reply e-mail. On any returns, you will be credited once we receive the item and verify its condition.

  • The customer is responsible for all shipping costs. We can not refund your original shipping costs.
  • We ship all items in original condition. We will not provide credit or accept returns on any items not in their original condition.

What if I receive a damaged item? We ship all items in original, first quality condition. Items are occasionally damaged during shipment.

  • If you receive a shipment with visible damage to the outer packaging, do not accept delivery of the package. If you are not available to receive the package, do not open it and report the damage to the carrier and us immediately. DO NOT RETURN DAMAGED SHIPMENTS TO US WITHOUT OUR PRIOR AUTHORIZATION.
  • If you receive a shipment with “hidden damage”, i.e., damage to the contents which was not evident from outside inspection, contact the carrier and us to report the damage immediately.
  • In all cases, please within 24 hours of receipt to report the damage. We will provide return instructions and provide information on replacement of the damaged item. No shipping, handling or other fees are charged when we send the replacement.

What if I receive the wrong item? For all items incorrectly shipped, within 24 hours of receipt and we will replace the item and instruct you how to return the incorrect item. We will credit your account for the shipping charges you incur. (No shipping or other fees are charged when we send the corrected order.)

What personal information about customers do we gather and what is your privacy policy? We thank you for making a decision to do business with us and we will work very hard to maintain your trust. By placing orders with us, you accept our privacy policy just as we agree to respect and maintain your privacy.

  • Information you give us. We receive and store the contact information provide. We use the information for responding to you, for sending you our products or for accepting recommendations from you on how to improve either our web site or our product line. We do not store credit card numbers.
  • Information from other sources. We occasionally receive updated shipping information from our freight carriers. We use it to update our shipping/contact information in order to be more responsive to you.
  • Do you share, loan, sell or rent any of my information. No!
  • How secure is my information? We work with Americart, our shopping cart service, and EMS (Electronic Merchant Systems), our credit card processor to protect all order information you provide. Our shopping cart is secured by VeriSign. Your information is encrypted and we receive it the same way.

What is your pricing policy? Our prices are subject to change without notice. If we incur new pricing on backordered or special ordered items, we will notify you of the price change before we ship. Illinois residents are subject to applicable sales tax. No tax is charged on orders shipped outside Illinois.

Do you accept checks, cash or other payment forms other than credit card? No.

  • Maps, Guides & More only accepts VISA, MasterCard and Discover cards.

Do you gift wrap or offer gift certificates? We hope to offer these services in the future.
